The library subscribes to a number of e-books from various publishers, many of which provide access by means of a pdf download. However, a large number of our e-books are provided by Ebook Central (Proquest) which requires you to install an app before you can download the book. Although this provider offers a read online option which does not require a download, in order to download the e-book to your device, you will first need to download the Adobe Digital Editions app, then register and create an Adobe ID.

To download your ebook, first search for your book in Library Search (the library catalogue). Search under the BU Library Collections scope and then you can limit to Resource Type: Books & E-books and Show Only: Online Access

When you find your ebook, click on the Online Access link…

…and then the E-book Central link (this will prompt you to sign in if you have not already done so

You will now be given an option to read the book online or to download the book

If you select Download Book it will ask what device you are using (ipad/iphone or tablet/android) select your device and click continue

You will then be taken to the app store where you can download the Adobe Digitial Editions app

Once the app has been installed, you will need to click on the Menu Button in the top left of the screen

You then need to click on Settings

Click Authorise

You will then need to create an Adobe ID by clicking on Create Adobe ID

Your device should then be activated to download e-books
